Terms of Use

By downloading, installing, or using Undra, you agree to these Terms.

1) Agreement

  • These Terms apply to your use of Undra (the software) and any official Undra websites that link to these Terms.
  • If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use Undra.

2) Who we are

3) License and use

  • Butterstorm LLC grants you a personal, non-exclusive license to install and use Undra for lawful purposes.
  • You may use Undra for personal or professional work.
  • Undra is provided free of charge. Donations are optional and do not purchase support, service levels, or warranties.
  • We may provide support, but we do not guarantee response times or compatibility with any particular device or workflow.
  • We may provide updates, fixes, or new features, but we are not obligated to do so.

4) AI features and third-party services (optional)

  • Some features may connect to third-party services (for example, Claude, OpenAI/Codex, or Cursor) or local model runtimes (Ollama, LM Studio) if you enable them.
  • When you connect an AI provider, you provide your own account. You are responsible for your account, credentials, and any usage or charges billed by your provider.
  • When you use AI features, the content you choose may be sent to the provider to generate results.
  • AI output may be incorrect or incomplete; you are responsible for reviewing it before you rely on it.
  • You may also connect external tool servers (MCP) or other AI apps to Undra. These are third-party software running on your machine with their own permissions; install and connect only software you trust. The disclaimers and limitations of liability in these Terms apply to your use of them.
  • Tip: avoid including secrets (passwords, API keys, private keys) in prompts or content you send to an AI provider.

5) Extensions

  • Undra supports extensions, including extensions created by third parties.
  • Extensions are installed and used at your own risk. Butterstorm LLC does not review, endorse, or warrant third-party extensions and is not responsible for their behavior.
  • Extensions can read and modify content in your workspace. Only install extensions from sources you trust.
  • The disclaimers and limitations of liability in these Terms also apply to your use of extensions.

6) Beta file formats and compatibility

  • During the beta, file formats and schemas may change (including Markdown with YAML frontmatter and Undra custom file types).
  • We may ship migrations, but we do not guarantee forward or backward compatibility between beta versions.
  • You are responsible for backups, especially before installing updates.

7) Your content and backups

  • You own your content. Undra is local-first and your content stays on your device by default.
  • You are responsible for maintaining backups and for the security of your device and accounts.
  • You are responsible for complying with any laws or obligations related to the content you create, store, or manage using Undra.
  • If you choose to share content (for example, by exporting files or emailing support), you are responsible for what you share.

8) Acceptable use

  • Do not use Undra for unlawful activity.
  • Do not use Undra to distribute malware or to harm other people or systems.
  • Do not use Undra in a way that interferes with the security or availability of our websites or update servers.
  • If you discover a security issue, please contact us and do not publicly disclose details that put users at risk before we can respond.

9) Disclaimer

  • Undra is provided 'as is' and 'as available'. Butterstorm LLC disclaims warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
  • Undra may contain bugs, may not work on every device, and may result in data loss or other issues.
  • You are responsible for verifying outputs and maintaining backups appropriate for your use.

10) Limitation of liability

  • To the maximum extent permitted by law, Butterstorm LLC will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or business interruption arising from your use of (or inability to use) Undra.
  • Your use of Undra is at your own risk, including the risk of data loss or device issues.
  • If liability cannot be fully excluded under applicable law, it will be limited to the maximum extent permitted.

11) Governing law and disputes

  • These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
  • Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of Undra will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
  • Nothing in this section removes any rights you have under the mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country or state of residence.

12) Changes

  • We may update these Terms over time. The version published on this page is the current version.

13) Severability

  • If any part of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining parts will remain in effect.

14) Entire agreement

  • These Terms are the complete agreement between you and Butterstorm LLC regarding your use of Undra. They replace any prior or contemporaneous statements about the same subject, whether written or oral.

15) Workspace submissions

  • If you submit a workspace to the workspace gallery, you confirm that it is your own work and that you have the right to show everything visible in it. Assets you have licensed - fonts, textures, models and the like - are fine to show, as long as your licence allows it.
  • By submitting, you grant Butterstorm LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide licence to show your workspace and its preview media in the gallery, with credit to you. You keep ownership of your work.
  • We do not currently offer workspace files for download. If that changes we will ask you first, anything offered for download will be released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence (CC BY 4.0), and you will need to remove any third-party material you are not licensed to pass on - most purchased assets can be shown but not redistributed.
  • You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Butterstorm LLC and its members, officers, and agents from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of a workspace you submit or your breach of this section.
  • We review submissions before publishing them, but we do not verify ownership or licensing on your behalf, and our review is not an endorsement of your rights in the work.
  • We may decline, edit, or remove any submission at any time and for any reason, and you may ask us to remove yours at any time.
  • Submitters who repeatedly infringe the rights of others will not be accepted again.

16) Component library

  • If you sign in to the component library and publish a component, you confirm the code and any assets in it are your own work, or that you have the right to share them on the terms below.
  • By publishing, you grant Butterstorm LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, display, and distribute your component in the library, with credit to you. You keep ownership of your work.
  • You also grant everyone who copies your published component the right to use, modify, and redistribute it under the MIT License, including in commercial projects. Publishing is sharing: do not publish code you are not willing to give away on those terms.
  • Published components and comments are public. Do not post content that is unlawful, infringing, abusive, or spam.
  • We may edit, unpublish, or remove any component or comment, and may suspend or remove library accounts, at our discretion. You can ask us to remove your own content or account at any time.
  • Accounts that repeatedly infringe the rights of others will be removed.
  • You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Butterstorm LLC and its members, officers, and agents from any claim or demand, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising out of content you publish or your breach of this section.

17) Feedback

  • If you send us feedback, suggestions, or ideas (for example through the Send feedback button in the app, or by email), they are non-confidential and we may use them freely to improve Undra, without obligation or compensation to you.
